Carbohydrate Testing
Students in Coach Lovrich’s classes have been conducting chemical tests on Carbohydrates. These pictures are of the classes testing salivary amylase a digestive enzyme found in saliva. After the classes chewed and swallowed a soup cracker, they made observations about digestion in the mouth. Students then had to observe the role that enzymes play in the digestive process by conducting an experiment. Students collected data showing that the amylase broke down the complex carbohydrate starch into simple sugars that are more useable by the human body.
